BATTLE OF THE HERITAGE BOOTS...Copa vs adiPURE IV

Many consumers both young and old are wondering what the keys differences between the copa mundial and the new school copa also known as the adipure IV which is adidas newest heritage boot. Many consumers are fans of the copa but are very interested in the adipure because it is new and looks sleeker then the copa. Which boot to choose?

With the copa you get a k-leather upper, straight lacing and the retro/narrow fit. In addition, the out sole of the copa has the old school low profile rounded studs which is perfect for turf and harder playing surfaces. By no means, am I dismissing the Copa in the soccer market because the boot has been around for almost 50 years which you cannot say about any other boot on the market. But because it is old school the boot is heavy due to its outsole and registers in at around 11.5 oz while the new adipure is around 9 oz. Having tried on both boots I must say that the Copa Mundial gets my approval over the new adipure in terms of comfort/fit, and price. Why? Because with the adipure IV you have a lighter boot but with its current last/shape it is very narrow in the toe box which many consumers including myself feel. In addition, the heel cup in the adipure is lower and feels un-supportive which a lot of consumers comment and say they feel like their heel is coming out of the boot. Adidas may have changed the appearance of the boot but I believe the heel cup/shape and the narrow last of the boot are the downfall of the new adipure IV. If you look back in the series, adidas had the off center lacing in the second generation of the boot which many consumers liked because it allowed more width in the boot which helped consumers with wider feet. By narrowing the last of the boot/changing the lacing it hurt adidas chances to land consumers with wider feet. I think that both adidas and Nike are so concerned with speed that they are forgetting that not every athlete consumer has the feet of a professional player. 

adiPure II my favorite boot of the series...

A perfect example of this is what Nike has done with the CTR silo. Rather than focus on speed/weight and making the boot as light as possible they focused on touch, comfort and durability which has been a hit with consumers because with this boot consumers with wider feet can fit into the CTR which is rare because for so long Nike boots were so narrow. The CTR is not heavy by any means but registering in at around 10.5 oz many consumers especially young consumers dismiss the boot due to the weight.

In the end, if you are an old school footballer I suggest that you try on the Copa and the adipure IV and compare them in terms of pricing, comfort and fit. It is awesome, that the Copa is still around and for the consumer that wants comfort and does not want to bust the bank but wants a durable high quality boot that the copa will be there waiting for them.

Adidas AdiPURE IV- REVIEW

The good: The boot is simple, classic, and based on durability, comfort and style I would choose this boot over any other boot on the market. Not to mention the price point of $140.

The bad: the only thing that could be improved on this boot is the outsole. With no flex grooves on the forefoot I noticed the boot to be very stiff when pushing off.

The bottom line: classic boot that offers great value: price, durability, and comfort are the highlights of the boot. Not to mention the style really grabs your attention if you are a fan of heritage boots aka adidas. How many years has the cop a been around? I work at a soccer specialty shop and we always have people come in looking for them. Just something about a classic that you can not beat.

Comfort/fit: (8/10)

With the straight lacing at first glance the adiPURE seems like a narrow boot but with the k leather upper you can have a simi wide foot and the upper wraps around your foot like a glove. I am not sure why adidas chose to use the straight lacing system because with the off center lacing it gives players a bigger striking surface to to mention with the asymmetrical lacing system it contours to the shape of your foot to provide a glove like fit. To feel the difference I urge you to try on the the adiPURE two and three.

Performance: (9/10)

 If you are looking for a heritage boot that overs comfort and a classic soft touch, referencing the upper of the k leather upper then this boot is for you. When you boot this boot on you feel no pressure on the foot. With the upper it fits like a glove, which is what you want from a boot. There is no breaking in, just put them on and play and let your game do the talking. This boot is a classic boot but at 9.8 oz it is made for the modern football game unlike it's daddy the mundial which registers at 11.7 oz. So you can see adidas retooled this boot for the modern game and for the player who wants a classic/heritage boot.

Value: (9/10)

When looking at a boot I want to know the comfort, price, and durability of the boot. As a consumer who takes your soccer serious this is what you should look for. At $140 price point adidas has hit a home run with this boot because for what you get for the price is amazing. It is not plastic, it is k leather and it will go the distance, which means it will last longer then six months. For example, I had a pair of adiPURE boots that lasted me two years which says a lot about the quality adidas is putting out.

The soccer bible...

Just received the new EUROSPORT in the mail and I can remember as a kid that i would wait each month just for the new magazine to see the new boots. This magazine is the bible in many young consumers eyes and in fact if you google soccer.com it is the first on the list. What i am trying to get at is that i believe that Eurosport sets the demand in terms of what is new and what young footballers are looking to buy. It is also interesting to see the two giants Nike and adidas going at it regarding who has the most pages in the magazine. From a close source, it is estimated that it cost $14,000 for a half of a page to advertise in the magazine. 

So tell me, as a consumer are you influenced by these ads and does EUROSPORT set the demand for boots in North America?

Many bloggers and other footy sites have taken notice of the most recent boot spy. It looks to me like it has the k leather upper with the popular adidas F50 sprint frame. Could this be a prototype of the soon to be adipure V or even better the next generation of the adipure SL...

Be on the lookout for these upcoming color ways in the adipure IV from adidas. These color ways are very unique for a heritage boot and this boot looks like a boot from the past that has been ingrained with todays technology.

adidas Adipure SL released

It seems that adidas soccer can not let off the gas when it comes to innovation and the lightweight boot speed race that we have seen blossom in the past two years within the soccer market. For example, the time has now come and adidas have released the adipure iv sl to the market. with this boot adidas has been able to incorporate a supreme quality lightweight leather upper with their ultra-lightweight speed/sprint frame out sole. Furthermore, to describe the new adidas adiPure SL football boots adidas has ultimately made a hybrid/concept boot from a heritage/classic silo boot and "crafted it for speed" and the modern game.

The lightest adiPure ever created, adidas has produced a k leather boot that just weighs 7oz.. If you look around at the market I beleive this boot will set a benchmark in the boot market, especially when you look at the other heritage boots in the market like the Tiempo and the Puma King. By making this concept boot a reality it gives adidas consumers another option to choose from depending on what demands and what level of football they are playing. By utilizing the the F50 adizero last/sprint frame out sole which has a wider forefoot and platform adidas are able to provide a speed boot with a comfortable fit/heritage old school look/feel.

"i played in the adipure iv for the second time on saturday and they are so comfy. amazingly comfy in fact. good fit all round with no blistering. i could wear them all day. i had the adipure ii and they were lovely with a great feel for the ball. i didnt go for the adipure iii as i didn't quite like the styling although i recognize them as a good boot. the adipure iv nail it with the styling. Between the adipure ii or iv i'd say the iv's just get the nod. Only because they are slightly more comfy than the ii's straight out of the box. The adipure ii is a more narrow boot than the iv but once broken in are super comfy."

Speaking on the behalf of the adiPURE IV "i have not had any blisters, the heels feel fine after breaking them in. after playing for a few hours on saturday, the outsides of my feet were getting sore but there were no blisters. I think once the k-leather stretches it will be very comfy. I played a league game last nite and they felt great, the touch is excellent..maybe its a mental thing or marketing hype, but i feel like my touch is so much better with these because of the k-leather. "

Adidas adiPure IV SL TRX FG

With the release of the adidas F50 Prime soon to hit stores next month along with the news\hype regarding adidas football creating an elite series of boots called the SL series. Footy fans have been searching high and low trying to get a glimpse of what is soon to come. Based off my blog stats over the past week 200 people have searched this site for tags regarding the adiPURe SL. With stats like that I could not ignore those numbers, so I was determined this week to bring some brand new news to the table. Looks like Christmas came early because according to Wegotsoccer the adiPURE SL Will cost $249.99 and is available to preorder for an expected ship date for 4/1/2011. The only thing that it does not say is the weight of the boot which I am dying to find out. However, I was right regarding the upper, release date, and the sprint frame outsole. RED adiPURE IV...

It seems that if you want the inside scoop on up and coming boots you need to check sites like ebay regularly to find juicy images of what is soon to be. Recently, I found a red color way in the adiPURE IV which is not even out yet. However, I was also able to track down a picture from an adidas catalog that shows these flashy red boots with a description along with the two other color ways that are already released. I personally, like the color of these boots! I am receiving a pair of adiPURE IV Friday and will be testing them for the next a couple of weeks. Stay tuned…

Adipure sl

Here is a sneak peak of the adiPURE sl that will make way to stores in 2011. This boot has all the aspects of the current adiPURE IV; with the k leather upper, old school feel. However, the outsole of the sl version is made up of the a different outsole to decrease the overall weight of the boot. The outsole adidas uses is the outsole from the famous adiZERO which has been a big hit with amatuear and professional players.

adiPURE IV &adiZERO II Unseen colors

For some reason, Japan gets boots and different colors that the rest of the world does not get until about six months later. In addition, these adiPURES have a HG hard sole because of the playing surfaces in Asia. In the end, I would love to see these boots/ color ways make it to the states. However, we have seen a trend when adidas releases boots, they always release the safest color first and as the year goes on they produce the eye catching boots. I must say, in the past year the adidas color ways for boots have improved alot! Im excited for 2011...
