Nike Launches Limited All-Black CTR 360

*Nice way to say good bye to one of the best boots Nike Football has produced in the past decade...

“The game has changed and that has led us to new innovations for our players. This means that we won’t continue to innovate the CTR 360, but we know this boot has a lot of fans so we wanted to say goodbye with something special,” says Denis Dekovic, Design Director for Nike Football.

The all-black CTR 360 is a limited edition, premium, version of the boot that is created in a small run, individually numbered, and sold at nike.com.

“We know that our players love black boots as much as they love to express themselves through color. We loved the idea of turning the lights out on the CTR 360 and thought that an all-black version would be a great way to say goodbye," Dekovic adds.

The boot features slight tones of black throughout giving it an added feel of luxury with a hint of reflectivity in the laces.

"When we wear-test samples of a new boot we use all-black versions and the players react really well to the secrecy element of that color. We’ve loved that insight; it looks cool and fits the creative direction. It’s also great that the color we first sampled the boot in is the same with which we say goodbye,” added Dekovic

Nike Magista: Football will never be the same

In 2010 the CTR360 came on the scene and blew the boot world away with its unique fit and awesome comfort/durability on the pitch. Along with the athletic fit the game changer was the introduction to kanga lite. Hands down the CTR360 silo has been one of the best and most successful silos created in the past decade by Nike. Over time the boot has evolved and the kanga lite synthetic leather has become almost surreal in terms of its in hand experience. However, evolution is a must within the football market because when boots get stagnant so do the consumers along with the market. Sometimes change is good.

Big reveal: The boot is officially unveiled on March 6 and promises to be popular one with players

So with that in mind, Nike is set to drop a new kind of boot. Now a new innovation is set to drop and hit the pitch. The name is called "Magista" which is all you need to know for now boot nerds.  The Nike Magista set to launch on the 6th of March but that week delay hasn't stopped the sportswear giant from being massive teases.

So with that in mind, Nike is set to drop a new kind of boot to replace the infamous CTR360. The Nike Magista set to launch on the 6th of March but that week delay hasn't stopped the sportswear giant from being massive teases. As part of the buildup, Nike have released a video featuring a very blurry and pixilated look at the new boot with stars like Andres Iniesta, Mario Goetze, Thiago Silva, and Christian Eriksen, among others, singing the Magista's prizes. "Unbelievable," "perfect," "futuristic," and "it's a true revolution" were just some of the words that the world-class footballers testing the new boot used to describe it.

CTR360 Teaser...

Next color-ways of the CTR360...The ultimate control boot that is probably hands down one if the most comfortable boots on the market.

In 2010 it was voted the boot of the year by many of the Footy review sites/blogs but only time will tell if it will be a repeat and claim the number on spot! Midnight blue CW launches 1/1/2012 and the Black/ Green launches in Aril/May.

What would be your boot of the year for 2011 and why?

Nike CTR360 Maestri II blurb.

With no introduction needed here is the latest CTR360 two tone color way to hit the pitches. In terms of sale/popularity on the pitch i am not afraid to say that in the past decade the CTR has been one of the best boots Nike has ever produced. Rather than focus on speed and weight Nike decided to cater to the athletes/players and created a boot for the overall game that was centered/focussed around touch/control.

The fit on the CTR is fantastic because Nike went with a off center lacing scheme that i like to call the athletic fit that mirrors the shape of your foot. With the off center lacing the boot is more of a normal width which allows almost anyone with a semi medium to wide footwear the ability to wear these boots. Furthermore, with the combination of the unique upper along with the shape/last of the boot Nike was able to create one of the most comfortable boots on the market. With this release Nike seemed to have perfected the Kanga-lite material as this version is slightly softer than the original Maestri.

Nike has also added several new comfort elements, such as a swede lined heel as well as a slightly thicker tongue. The sole plate is also very good as you get almost no stud pressure. Other than that, this is one of the most comfortable, best fitting boots on the market right now in the control category that comes at a very realistic price of $180.

The latest Nike CTR360 Maestri II color way.

Nike just released this new two tone metallic color way in the CTR which has been an awesome boot for Nike. With the athletic fit/off center lacing along with the combination of the revolutionary KANGA-LITE upper many consumers can not believe how comfortable this boot is. Designed for the modern game, this boot offers maximum comfort and value for your money. With the kanga upper this boot will not stretch or absorb water like a normal boot and in terms of durability this is one of the best boots on the market. If you have a medium to wide foot and are looking for an elite boot at an awesome price point of $180 then this might be the boot for you.

CTR 2 Red and Black colorway; UNRELEASED

In my opinion based on comfort durability and price that the CTR 360 is one of the best boots Nike Football has ever created. Take away the technology that might seem gimmicky to old school footballers and you still have an amazing boot. WHY? because Nike focused on comfort and an all around boot that did not hurt your feet but felt like slippers due to the off center lacing. If you have never looked at the CTR for a boot for your next purchase you are making a big mistake because it is not a uncomfortable speed boot, it is a boot designed for any player on the pitch that wants a comfortable, durable, reliable boot that geared toward touch and comfort and durability. Check out this new unreleased color way that will come after the yellow and black color way.

Nike CTR360 Maestri II- Nike on Development

By far the CTR360 has been Nike's best Football creation in the past decade... If you think I am wrong you have been living in a cave. Since it appeared on the pitch it has been nothing short of first class. It offers everything an elite boot has to offer; extreme comfort, sassy style, new technology that makes you question Nike's reasoning, and it is affordable aka not made of plastic! If you just look around the pitch defenders to forwards are wearing this boot. In my opinion, that says a lot about the product!

Here is a video about the boot and the designer explains why they made the boot the way they did.

Key product features selling points:
  • Asymmetrical lacing system expands the ball control area and features dampening pods for exceptional first touch.
  • TPU pass pad and a memory foam insert at the instep to enhance control and touch to help distribute the ball with perfect balance of precision and pace.

Consumer profile: An ideal product if your an elite-level player who wants a boot that's designed with pinnacle performance features and crafted for accuracy and first touch.
