The Good: The Predator LZ is a mixture of power and speed. To paint a picture, the boot is a hybrid between the F50 adizero and the adiPower Predator. The boots fit offers a tremendous lockdown affect and at 7.9 oz the boot is the perfect blend of speed and power. In addition, the boots lethal zones offer a point of difference no other boot on the market can match. Not even its closest rival the CTR360.

The Bad: Being that this is the new Predator release. I would have liked to seen adidas develop and put more empasis on the drive zone.

The Bottom Line: adidas has created a Predator that is made for todays modern game. The boot is quick, agile and offers a tremendous sock like fit. With this release the LZ ia a unique hybrid that revolves around touch, speed and power. I am very impressed with what the boot had to offer and compared to the CTR I think the LZ holds the upper hand in terms of fit, weight and power.

Predator series has changed drastically!

This boot took the boot world by storm in 1998 and as you can see the game of soccer and the Predator series has changed drastically. Out of all the Predator boots ever manufactured the Predator Accelerator is my favorite due to it's unique futuristic style and looks. Big fan of the series and of this particular model. If Adidas ever decides to do a anniversary/celebration of this model and bring it back into limited production my wallet will be ready!

Phantom/Warning/Silver Metallic Adidas adiPower Predator SL

Adidas has recently released the Phantom/Warning/Silver Metallic color way in the adiPower Predator SL in the US. The SL which has caught many boot fans by surprise because it is a concept boot that is unlike any other boot on the market. The SL features a synthetic upper and a sprint frame outsole which includes the power Spine technology which helps increase the force of your strike. The paint job on the boot is unlike anything I have ever seen on the market. The boot design/color starts at the toe and as you make your way back to the heel of the boot it gradually fades into a blackout heel. During the first initial release of these boots many Predator fans were discouraged because they thought adidas had altered the Predator too much.

For example, in order to decrease the weight of the boot adidas did not include the power zone on the boot but sill kept the Predator name which many fans did not agree with because they believed it was a falsification of the Predator boot/silo. However, with this release adidas focused on the concept of speed and lightweight and in my opinion I do not think they were trying to fool any consumers. I believe they simply wanted to go outside the box and create a concept boot that resembled similarities of the Predator but also had the tools to make it a concept/elite speed boot on the market. Many consumers between the ages of 16-18 want boots that no one else has and view the SL/Elite boots that Nike and adidas produce as limited boots and when something is limited or elite consumers want the best.

In the end, if you are an attacking player that is always on the move and is in need of an elite boot the Predator SL might be the boot for you. Registering in at 6.8 oz the SL is truly a concept boot made for the modern day fast paced game. Price of the boot is $250.

OG adiPower Predator color way available in USA!!!

As I was browsing the web today for various boot deals I ran into the adidas website and found that the original black/white/red color way in the predator is now available in North America. At first adidas did not release this color way in the US due to the lack of confidence in the color way because it seems today's youth wants brighter/flashy colors on  their boots.

However, there is a portion of consumers that can connect with this color way because since i can remember that was the first color way produced in the boots. If you want these boots there is a downfall because online the boots are available but at a higher price then the rest of the color ways.

adidas adipower Predator SL TRX FG TEASER...

One of the most exciting launches this year in the boot world was the introduction of the hybrid version of the adipower Predator SL. Basically considered as the elite version of the current adipower Predater adidas showed their creativity by recreating a boot  which in my mind is a pure concept boot. 

The SL which is very similar to the regular Predator is different in two major ways. The first big difference is that the SL boot does not have the predater technology which stirs the question to many consumers that why in the world did adidas call this a Predator when it does not have any Predator technology. Secondly, the SL version comes with a synthetic upper which is unique because forever the Predator has only had a leather based upper. By changing the upper and going with synthetic it allows adidas to greatly reduce the weight of the boot and market it has a SL/elite silo in the range of boots. However, one draw back about the SL range is the price increase and if you are a true predator fan it makes you wonder about this boot because it does not have the technology but is called the Predator SL. Price of the boot is $250 and both the black and white color ways are available at soccer.com. This color way will be released mid-November which is a pretty sick color way in my opinion because the boot has a faded pattern on the toe box which we have never seen before.

The Next Predator.

I have seen images and read many articles and blog posts that Adidas is keeping the adipower predator for sometime and introducing a new control boot/silo to rival the CTR360 by Nike. However, what many people do not realize is that the current adipower predator is already a control boot in many aspects and many players throughout the world have traded in their F50, Vapors, and Tiempos for this dynamic boot which weighs 7.8oz and has quickly taken the boot world by storm. The likes of Nani, Fletcher, and even Forlan along with a handful of other players both in MLS and abroad have adopted this boot as their own. The question is why? Ask yourself...

Furthermore, At first I did not pay any attention to people's hoopla that Adidas would have the nerve to introduce a new silo or even try to rival the CTR but until I saw a teaser image of a pair of all black adipower predators which means/indicates that the adipower predator will soon make way for a brand new predator which is pictured below in 2012/2013. Be honest with yourself, the last time Adidas which is already a creature of habit released a new silo was 2005/06 when they released the adipure/ heritage series. If adidas creates a new control silo it would kill/hurt their predator sells which would be dumb because the two boots would be very similar and compete against themselves... Aka that is not what Adidas wants. Rather then compete and follow in swooshes footsteps Adidas created the new predator with control/power in mind and if you look at the boot you should see a hybrid boot of speed, control and power all mixed into one dynamic boot. Rather then just sit back and wait for consumers to want more Adidas is moving forward and improving on the current predator.

The next predator will be even more dynamic then the current adipower and will feature a combination of different synthetics all around the boot with the main pattern in mind; just picture the adidas champions league ball and some how Adidas has managed to replicate that pattern on the next's predator to even more increase swerve, touch and control. As for the upper, I assume this boot will no longer come with a leather option which is scary because by doing that Adidas takes a risk because not everyone is on the synthetic band wagon yet.

As for the outsole, Adidas will again use the sprint fame with a combination of overlays going from the heel to the mid foot to aid in support and to make the boot stiff and secure while providing a lock down effect.

In the end, I am excited for this release and interested to see how this technology works. I am very pleased with the current predator but as history shows we must move forward and the current adipower predator will soon cone to an end and give birth To the next predator which will once again be a mixture if touch, power, and speed. Amazing how far the predator line has come along with how much the game if soccer has changed over the years.
