adidas drops Samba Pack

Adidas today launched the Samba Collection, Brazilian inspired football boots aimed at celebrating the vibrancy and exuberance of the World Cup host nation. For the first time ever, as part of the Samba Collection adidas has released a new boot from each of its four boot ranges, adizero f50, Predator, NitroCharge and 11pro, with an array of new bright, exciting color ways. Each boot has been designed with its own distinct identity and cutting edge technology, inspiring the next generation of footballer.

The Samba Collection launch marks the start of the adidas “All in or Nothing” 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ campaign. The tournament is the world’s largest event and the ultimate platform, where it will be Game On or Game Over for the World’s best teams and federations. The full roster of adidas star players will be involved in the campaign from Leo Messi and Oscar to Dani Alves and Mesut Ozil.

NitroCharge, the energy-retaining football boot designed for the next generation of footballer as worn by Dani Alves and Ezequiel Lavezzi, comes in a new visually striking lime green colourway. As a boot designed for ‘The Engine’, the player who is always running, tackling and relentlessly powering his team, the Samba NitroCharge encourages its wearer to go Full on or be Gone. With its unique and highly elastic ENERGYSLING around the forefoot supporting sidecut and precision turn movements to sharpen reactions on the pitch, and ENERGYPULSE spring technology providing high energy push-offs and long lasting energy return when sprinting, the NitroCharge combines new technologies to innovate the way ‘Engines’ play the beautiful game.

The adizero f50, long sought after by the fastest players such as Leo Messi, Lucas Moura and Gareth Bale, empowers its players to Fly or Die with an electric sky blue color way. The adizero f50 is all about precision engineering with every aspect of the boot design based around making the wearer as fast as possible on the football field.

With features such as SPEEDTRAXION, an all-new, high speed stud alignment for maximum acceleration and pinpoint changes of direction, and SPEEDFOIL, a revolutionary material that combines lightweight, softness and durability for a comfortable, yet locked down heel fit, the Samba adizero f50 is a boot which ensures these world class players will be faster than ever before in Brazil.

The vibrant pink color way of the Samba Predator Lethal Zones favored by the likes of Oscar, Mesut Ozil and Fernando Torres instructs its wearer to Hunt or be Hunted. Designed with five distinctive ‘Lethal Zones’ of technology to deliver outstanding ball control, touch, accuracy and power, the boot is made to master every aspect of performance.

With a luxury deep purple color way, the Samba 11pro worn by Philipp Lahm, Hernanes and Frank Lampard retains the classic attributes that allow players to Make the Play or Make Way. With its premium, ultra-soft and ultra-light Taurus leather providing excellent fit, performance, comfort and ball-feel allied to an all new outsole with comfort frame for better pressure distribution, as well as optimized stud placement for maximum grip and acceleration, the 11pro remains the boot of choice for the complete footballer.

Yay or Nay? adidas 11Pro SL

One of the categories that adidas soccer is doing extremely well at the moment is the concept category. I refer to these SL boots as a concept boot because the boots consist of different parts of other boots with one thing in mind; speed. However, the unique thing about adidas concept boots is that even though light weight is wanted by consumers somehow adidas produces these concept boots with leather uppers which makes them very unique and pays heritage to the OG boots. In addition, rather then go over board with the pricing adidas is keeping the price of these concept boots at a reasonable $250.

As i talk with people within the industry and with a soccer specialty background it is interesting in how the boot market has changed over the years. No longer are the days that the boots will be all black. Rather now days the younger generation of consumers come into the stores looking for the brightest boots possible. Everyone has a different personality on the pitch and many times consumers choose their boot by what type of position they play or what kind of style they want to portray on the pitch. However, not only are consumers seeking out the bright boots but they are seeking out limited/concept boots. As a player nowadays the market is flooded with the same colors every a couple of months so many consumers/serious footy players want boots that no one else has. I have said this numerous times that soccer is like the new skate in terms of footwear. Consumers want to be unique and do not want to be like everyone else. Having the same boots that everyone else has on the pitch is not cool. So by creating a unique concept boot it gives consumers the opportunity to be unique and be exclusive with their boots.

We saw this on a small scale with the Super Fly but like the wind the market was flooded with the first ever concept boot and without any innovation or change over time the boots value/demand dropped like flies along with its followers. Furthermore, it seems as if adidas has learned from Nike's mistake and created the SL series at a realistic price point and at a limited quantity so it increases the demand for the boots because they are rare and not everyone and there grandmother will have them.

Recently released adidas just dropped the 11Pro SL that bleeds class and perfection. At first glance you notice the leather vamp long with the faded paint job which goes from blood red to black. This boot is definitely a concept boot and is one of the most unique boots i have ever seen. Basically the boot is the newly released 11Pro but has the sprint frame out-sole along with a full grain leather upper. With the out-sole addas is able to drastically reduce the weight of the boot. In addition, the new 11Pro has a 360 support saddle that provides unbelievable mid-foot support and a glove like lock down affect. When you put the boot on the boots hugs and mirrors your foots shape and creates a sock like fit which is much improved compared to the underachieving adipure IV. Coming in at 6.4 oz the 11Pro SL is a footy nerds dream and like i said it is one of the most unique boots on the market. If you thought the adiPure IV SL was a sweet boot then I think you might have an obsession because the 11 Pro SL is that good.

11 PRO Teaser

The adiPure 11 PRO from adidas will be adidas new heritage/classic boot for 2012. With this release we will see the end of the adipure series and it will give birth to a newer/lighter classic boot that adidas will refer to as the 11PRO. With this release, the boot will have a newer last that is specifically designed for pro players that offers a superior fit and comfort. With the anatomically shaped last adidas will be able to offer consumers a glove like fit similar to the retro Copa. However, with this boot the weight will be significantly dropped to an astonishing 235 grams, which will rival the Tiempo IV and the CTR360 elite boots.

Another interesting change adidas will make on this boot compared to the other adipure releases is that this 11PRO will feature a calf skin upper which is soft, lighter and more durable then kangaroo leather. However, by doing this adidas will no longer have a boot besides the Copa that is kangaroo leather which is very weird because with kangaroo you get a very supple feel/soft touch that many current OG consumers love and only trust.

Also with this release, which I think should have happened after the second adipure release. Adidas will add flex grooves to the outsole on the forefoot which increases flexibility, decreases stiffness and also improves the fit/performance of the boot in my opinion. With the addition of the flex grooves, I think the boot will be more comfortable than and not as stiff as the last addition aka the adipure IV.

Last but not least, the boot will be micoach ready for smart football. In addition, as I mentioned the weight was greatly decreased because with this boot adidas put the sprintframe outsole on the boot. Bots drop early 2012 Jan/Feb...
