MLS Stars + Their Custom mi adidas Boots
To support
Breast Cancer Awareness Month some of the top MLS players around the league
were able to customize boots via miAdidas to support BCAM. The boots will hit
the pitch this weekend and will continue to be rocked throughout the month of
October. I have always been a big fan of customized boots and with this project
each athlete was able to customize a pair of boots to fit their own individual style/personality.
Each boot as a taste of pink to pay tribute to the cause but when these boots
hit the pitch they are sure to get the attention of footy fans.
Customized boots below are from Chris Pontius (DC United), Fredy Montero (Seattle Sounders), Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers), Kenny Cooper (New York), and Teal Bunbery (Kansas City).

Chris Pontius (DC United) Chris Pontius (DC United): “I designed my cleats the way I did because I like the simple color scheme. The pink stripes and laces were added for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the red tongue is for the DC United colors. I like the white basic scheme because it looks very clean and that’s how I went about designing my cleats.”
Fredy Montero (Seattle Sounders) Fredy Montero (Seattle Sounders): “I wanted to keep it simple, but at the same time it means a lot for me now with my wife’s name on my shoes. Also of course I’m trying to support women with this for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers)
Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers): “These will be my first custom cleats, I’m pretty excited. adidas is famous for their stripes, so I wanted to make the stripes, laces and other pieces on my boots pink to support breast cancer awareness. I used black and gold on the rest of the cleat to draw attention and try to make the pink really stand out.”
Kenny Cooper (New York) Kenny Cooper (New York Red Bulls): “My inspiration for why I designed my boots with pink stripes and laces are all those who have had breast cancer. I know when I look down on my boots and see the pink that represents Breast Cancer Awareness that I will be inspired by their hope and strength.”
Teal Bunbery (Kansas City) Teal Bunbury (Sporting KC): “I wanted to make something fun and exciting and that definitely looked good. Mainly though I wanted to show my continued support of Breast Cancer Awareness having that a family member was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Having the ability to design my own cleat gave me the freedom to express my passion for the game.”

HIGHLIGHTS: MLS All-Stars vs Chelsea FC
Boot nerds, in case you missed it here are the highlights of the MLS All Star Game.
To be honest, the only reason I watched it was for the boot spotting but it turns out there was nothing of mention. If I was adidas, I would have let any adidas sponsored player miadidas/customize a pair of boots for the game. Would have been a great way to showcase product and give the MLS All-Stars a gift.

"My Wish" series (2011): Landon Donovan of the LA Galaxy
Just so you guys do not take life for granted....LD makes a kids wish come true.
Eric Hassli writes the future Turf style
Eric Hassli who plays for the Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS has this nice little commercial of him playing footy and showcasing from what seemed like MLS and the adipower Predator but in the end it is really all about the turf. Biggest highlight of the video is when it showcases Hassli's bomb aka volley that was somehow not voted the goal of the year by MLS and its fans. Nagbe's goal was sick but in my opinion the Hassli strike was the true winner...

Thierry Henry | The King Is Back |
At first I will admit I doubted Henry going on a loan to Arsenal. To be honest, I did not think he still had it and many times this year in MLS it seemed as if Henry was bored or just in slow mo. But after watching Henry on the field today was some what magical because here is a guy at the tail end of his career and he comes from MLS and bags a goal for the big gunners! Not sure if you could write a better story. A better story is that Henry is not wearing Nike and rather wearing Puma. Henry is rocking the soon to be released Puma SL which drops 6/1/2012 and will retail for around $220 according to my sources today.

Landon Donovan back at Everton?
The 29-year-old spent two months at Goodison Park in 2010 in the MLS off-season and is excited to be back again for a similar length to help the Toffees out over the winter period...
Lets just hope he stays instead of coming back to MLS...
Steve Zakuani: ASK ZAK - Days Off
Stevie Z is on the grind when he is not on the pitch...
In college i was able to play multiple games against Zakuani and as you could see he is a real talent. I hope he recovers fully from his injury because he was one of the few MLS wingers that was dynamic game in and game out. Would be a big loss for the league to lose one of the leagues up and coming players.
Thierry Henry - 1:1 - Documentary - 3/4
Part 3 of 4. Henry is going on loan and I personally hope he kills it...
