As many of you Footy fans know the Mercurial Vapor 8 was recently released and by far it has been one of the best Vapor releases in years. Due to the unique upper and it's sock like fit. Not to mention as always Nike has released one of the most unique color ways in the boot game/market. Which is being referred to as the infamous/well known mango color scheme. The boots unique color and its fit are truly one of a kind at first glance.
Furthermore, for what seemed like a decade Nike refused to change the fit of the Vapor series which until now was very rigid, uncomfortable and lacked that killer lockdown affect that many serious footy players desire. Instead of change and innovate past Mercurials Nike chose to sit on the design rather than innovate the boot. Rather, Nike relied on flashy color schemes to attract consumers when in reality it was the same boot that offered the same un-conforming fit. However, with the MV8 release Nike has brought something new to the table with the reengineered upper and outsole that has past vapor fans jumping back on board with the OG vapor feel and look that the Vapor 8 portrays.
However, unfortunately during my testing in which I put around 20 hours of playing time in the boots I had no problems with the boots at all. So with no signs of wear and tear I decided to release a review video where I gave the boots very high honors. But recently now that I have logged 40+ hours in the boots they have begun to fall apart and I have experienced a delamination problem where the upper is separating and peeling off from the outsole which is very disturbing especially because I have not had the boots for that long. The upper is very soft which offers a nice touch/feel but I think that the upper is too soft and as you can see I am experiencing a delamination problem where the upper is separating and you can actually see the Suede backing they put on the boots which is not good! It could be a design flaw by Nike Soccer because with such a soft upper and no overlays set in place for extra support it seems like delamination will be a problem for the boot and it's users. Let's be honest, these boots are not cheap and it is scary to think that they did not last at least six months which in my opinion is the average life span of a boot especially if you are playing continuously.
In the end, I am interested to see if other consumers are experiencing similar problems and to inform those of you thinking about buying the newly released Vapor8 that you could find yourself in the same boat as me and my Mercurial Vapor 8 boots. The boots could have a design flaw that maybe went unseen from Nike during the testing/development stage. My advice is to keep your receipt and to ask if the retailer you purchase the boots from has a strict return policy. If you are experiencing similar problems send me an email and a picture and feel free to express your thoughts and opinions below.
