Two
years ago I started blogging because in the matter of two months I missed out
on two job opportunities at both Adidas and Nike in the soccer department. They
said I did not have enough experience....So I decided to start a blog to share
my passion and my knowledge. So from there the Blog and term Footy Guru was
born. As a kid I used to get new boots and sleep with them and even clean them
daily. I was and still am addicted to that new boot smell. So that is where the
term boot nerd comes from.
Growing
up My dad always told me that the boots did not make the player. But rather the
player makes the boots. However, I have always been fascinated if boots did
affect player’s games. Of course if the professionals are wearing a boot it has
to be the boot right? Haha At the end of the day, I guess I have become an influence
within the boot community. I believe that there is a boot for every player out
there depending on their foot shape, position and playing style. When deciding
on a boot, those three things in that order need to be taken into
consideration. It's just as boot nerds you have to do the research and find
that perfect boot for you and your game.
This
past week, I ran into some boot nerds from Helena, Montana and one of the
brothers told me that he has always wanted to talk boots with me. I guess he
said he recognized me from the HyperVenom review and said I was the reason he
ended up buying the boots! They explained that where they lived that they had
no soccer shop. So trying on boots was impossible so many times they would base
their buying decisions of my videos/reviews. Talking about a small world...
After speaking with them I felt the need to give away my last FootyG crew neck
and told them to send me a photo of their boots. From day one, the blog was
started to help people decide if a boot was right for them. I enjoy sharing my
passion and knowledge and its little stories and meetings like this that keep
me going. Shout out to the Proctor brothers for the support and for living the
Footy Guru lifestyle.
