Nike Unveils ACC Technology:

With the release of their new winter boot collection, Nike have revealed that All Conditions Control is now available across all Nike boots including Mercurial Vapor VIII, Tiempo Legend IV, CTR360 Maestri III and Total 90 Laser IV. In my opinion, the color ways are very strong and are for sure to stand out on the pitch which is the main goal at the end of the day.

What is ACC?
It is a technology that allows the boot surface area/upper to maintain the same level of touch/friction in the wet sloppy conditions. Many times when you are playing the rain often weighs your boots down because the upper soaks up the excess water throughout your training or game.

With the ACC, Nike applied a thin layer to the upper of the boots so that during the wet conditions it acts as a buffer against the rain and other crazy conditions you might encounter on the pitch. With the special ACC treatment the upper on the boots are suppose to deliver a consistent feel on the ball no matter the conditions.

Could this be a gimmick? Maybe… The only way to test the new ACC technology out is to take some of the new Nike boots out on a rainy day and get after it. Personally, I am not sold on the idea because with the amount of rain I see in Portland I am not sure if the technology would actually work. I see a lot of rain and maybe in mild conditions I cold see this technology working but with a hard core rainy day I am skeptical if the ACC technology really matters or is a point of difference in the latest releases from Nike footy.

The questions I have regarding the ACC Technology:
1. Does it actually work?
2. How long does this treatment last?
3. Can I buy some ACC technology for my older Nike boots to make them more water repellent?
